Simulation
January 2008, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna
The image of a live-news anchor is projected on a screen. She starts to welcome the public, but after her first sentence the sound is interrupted. It turns out, that the sound is actually synchronised live by a performer, who is seated amongst the audience. The performer starts a ‘dialogue’ with the image projected on the screen; during which the news-anchor, whose main task is to inform about the ‘newest news’ in their current moment, is exposed, as the whole performance is a planned and rehearsed event. As a consequence, both, image and live-sound cannot depict a “now” anymore, except for the live-moment of the performance itself.
Simulation II

Our live anchor tries to report about current terrorist acts against classical and contemporary artworks, struggling with her sound not synchronising with her image, questioning her and her audiences emotions towards the destruction of art.
